This month we celebrated two years since the SVAR project began – a small idea that turned into a set of feature-rich, open-source UI components for modern web apps.
Back on October 25, 2023, we released SVAR Svelte Core, a small library of essential form controls and UI elements written in Svelte 4. Since then SVAR UI has evolved into a growing collection of components for both Svelte and React developers.
And while we’re still a small team, we’re encouraged by the steady growth and community support:
- 30+ UI components for Svelte & React
- Powerful data grid & Gantt chart
- 1,000+ GitHub stars in total
- 170+ forum members
- Thousands of npm downloads
Every star, comment, forum thread, and installation helps us keep improving and stay motivated.
What We’ve Built So Far
Over the past two years, we’ve built and released six packages of ready-to-use components for Svelte and React:
- Core Library — 25+ essential UI elements and form controls
- Gantt Chart — interactive Gantt chart and timeline component
- DataGrid — powerful, responsive data table
- File Manager — customizable file explorer
- Editor — flexible edit form component
- Filter — visual query builder
Each of these components is developer-friendly, well-documented, and built to make data-driven apps easier to create. That means hours of development, testing, debugging, and documentation — all to make sure SVAR components are actually useful.
This is what developers say about SVAR, and these words warm our hearts:
💬 I love the work you’re doing with Gantt charts!
💬 thank you for all the hard work on Svar Gantt for React—it’s a fantastic library and has really streamlined our project timelines!
💬 Excellent work. SVAR components are great, and I’ve specifically migrated clients from AG Grid to SVAR which is saving thousands of dollars every year.
💬 just started experimenting the dataGrid yesterday and it looks very promising, well done and keep up the good work 👏
Our Journey in Milestones
🔹 October 25, 2023 — The First Release
SVAR began with a small Svelte UI library, built around the idea that clean, predictable code and good UX don’t have to come with heavy dependencies.
🔹 March 2024 — Svelte Gantt Released
Our first advanced component - SVAR Svelte Gantt. It brought project timelines, dependencies, and resource visualization to Svelte — and became the foundation for what would later grow into the React Gantt as well.
🔹 September - November 2024 - React DataGrid & Gantt Released
The initial release of our first React components: interactive Gantt chart and lightning-fast data grid. Both components offered similar features as the Svelte versions.
🔹 December 2024 — Full Upgrade to Svelte 5
We updated all Svelte components for Svelte 5, adjusting the code to the modern Svelte syntax. The update also enhanced Svelte DataGrid and Core components.
🔹 July 2025 — Major Update of SVAR Svelte to v2.2
A major update to the Svelte Gantt and DataGrid, making them more customizable and accessible. This release also refined the documentation and demos, adding improved navigation and direct links to GitHub source code for easier exploration.
🔹 September 2025 — TypeScript Support for Svelte Components
With complete TypeScript definitions and internal refactoring, SVAR Svelte v2.3 became easier to integrate and more IDE-friendly — something we know many developers care about deeply. Also, we moved the npm packages to @svar-ui/ namespace.
🔹 September-October 2025 — New React Components and React 19 Support
SVAR expanded into React. We introduced a full suite of React components — Core, DataGrid, Editor, Filter, and Gantt chart — all compatible with React 19 and built with TypeScript support.
Thank You & Looking Ahead
We’re still a small team, but our goals are big. We believe SVAR can become a trusted tool for building modern, data-rich web interfaces for both the Svelte and React ecosystems.
We’re now focusing on refining our flagship products — Gantt chart and DataGrid — while exploring what the next component should be for Svelte and React.
We want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has starred a repo, joined our forum, shared an issue, or built apps with SVAR. Your contribution and feedback are what keeps us going!
